A year long surprise....

Knowing that John had a big birthday this year we started planning a surprise trip back in oh....April? And by we, I mean our friends Base, Colleen and myself. Base had access to some rockin' season tickets so we knew we were headed to Green Bay, passing up 6th row seats wasn't an option! So we plotted hotels and our plan of attack and when John wasn't around we whispered about it for months! For those of you that may not know...I am TERRIBLE at keeping secrets especially when I have to keep them for so long! But, I think since I wanted it to be a surprise for him...I managed not to slip up around him but of course I was telling other people.

After we all had some mishaps about the trip (mixing up dates, forgetting to take off work, not having a baby dog sitter and for John...spending the money I planned on using in GB) the week of the trip FINALLY came. I was stressed out because some how I needed to get John out of bed at 4:00 in the morning and into the shower without telling him what was going on. After stressing for a week or so it turned out that Base and Colleen were going to "break" into our house, jump on him and tell him we were going to Green Bay. Well...it's weird waiting for friends to break into your house in the middle of the night...so I slept none and Base and Colleen slept even less. Meanwhile, John snored ALL night long and I know because I watched him sleep all night. Finally 4:00 came and in came Base and Colleen with flashlights praying John that John had blankets over him (that's another story)...and so they woke up a very confused and persistent John. And by persistent I mean, he was determined that he was still going to work and that I couldn't possibly be so good and already have the days off for him....it slowly sinked in when he got in the shower. I do believe the words from John were "I have to go to work, goodnight" "bahaha...oh no you don't babe! "WE"RE GOING TO GREEN BAY " "Huh?" Priceless..we have a video of his face but I'll save him some embarrassment.

So on the plane we got and next thing you know...John is in heaven. You could call it a dream come true for him. The boy did not lose his smile the entire time we were there. He probably was even smiling when he was laying on the bathroom floor Saturday night after Guinness was going down a little toooo easy. I could go into every detail of the trip but I'll save you some reading...it was an incredible trip. Packers fans are insane, Lambeau field is one of a kind, and football truly keeps Green Bay running.

Base and Colleen have a TON more pictures...one thing I forgot to pack was the camera charger, fail. So these are a few that we got!

So a huge THANK YOU to my partners in crime for making this trip possible! Happy 40th birthday John!!!!

Everything else is going great! We head to Vermont in a couple of weeks and we're reallllly excited! I think my mom has been on cloud 9 for the last months just knowing that we're all going to be home for Christmas! I'll leave you with a couple random photos. One of our kids <3 and a night for the books with Matt and Amy!
