I wish I could say that the last couple weeks have been quiet with not much going on, but like most people that is not the case...
First of all, it feels as if the entire State of Colorado is on fire and it breaks my heart. It started with a fire blazing up north not far from my brother and sister in-laws house as well as my Aunt Sue's house. Then in this last week it's just become the new trend, a fire or two a day. Colorado Springs is really under some serious flames right now and the Colorado weather is NOT helping. It's been HOT here, and when I say HOT I mean the "stay the F away from me and let's doing nothing but go to places with AC" kinda hot. John and I literally drove around on Sunday looking at property with the dogs in the back seat JUST so we could be in AC and not be spending money on anything but gas. On top of the heat we've been having these "afternoon storms" that contain mostly of lightening, thunder and LOTS of wind--which causes the current fires to spread and new fires to begin thanks to the lightening that hit ground. The entire state owes a huge thank you to the thousands of fire fighters that are working day and night to fight the flames and try and keep us all as safe as possible. My heart goes out to the approximately 500 family that have lost their home, I'm thinking about you and hope starting over is easier than it sounds. Now, if you're reading this...go do a Colorado Rain Dance, WE NEED RAIN!
So....what else have we been up to? Well, this week I started a new position with DaVita! I am really excited about it. I'm sure not many of you know much about kidney failure, kidney dialysis or what DaVita does...but they really do all they can to give people the best quality of life while dealing with kidney/renal failure and it softens my heart to know I am recruiting the nurses etc that are helping make a difference in someones life. Alot of people spend about 15 hours (3 days @ 4-5 hours) a week in clinics getting dialysis done just so they can continue their life symptom free. So, that is one big thing that has happened and I have to say I am truly honored to be part of such an incredible company and culture. Community first, company second...that is their motto and I LOVE it!
Besides starting a new job and trying to stay cool, we decided to surprise my big brother Tyler by installing his/Amy's entire basement floor with the cork flooring he had purchased. We did it on the day he was returning from Germany hoping to catch him in the surprise, but that didn't quite happen. But the good news is that we got the ENTIRE floor done in about 9 hours this last Saturday and for newbies to the floor laying business I think we did a pretty good job. I think Tyler was excited and I know happy was grateful we helped with the whole basement reveal! HOPE YOU LOVE IT TY AND AMY!
I wish I had some great pictures for you guys, but truth is....my lap top died about a month ago, i'm praying we can save my hard drive even though I toasted my laptop like a marshmallow over a camp fire. So, needless to say if I wasn't on John's stupid MAC I might be able to figure out how to upload pics into this...but I'm a PC girl and do NOT know how to use this thing. I will say that Dakota is growing up rather quickly and even though i'm excited to see how big she gets, i'd be okay if she stayed small a little longer.
We're going to Vermont NEXT WEEK! I think we keep forgetting because we've been so busy...but Johns very VERY good friend Jerry is getting married to his best friend and incredible woman Kathy :) We could NOT be more happy for them. We actually got to be there for the proposal, so we might do feel a little special. While in VT, my parents, some of my favorite friends of their as well as Johns cousin (our best man) Jeremi and his family will all be camping at Lone Pine campground and we're really excited for some time in the lake, bonfires and just hanging out! On top of all of that we are also going to pick out John's wedding band AND getting my custom wedding band designed, excited---YES! Oh, and I get to try my wedding dress on again :) Oh, and my step-dad surprised my mom with a plane ticket to come out here for Kenny Chesney and ZBB in July, so I get to see her TWICE in one month...that's unheard of these days.
I find myself missing Hally Berg more and more everyday. Hally Berg, you are my Christina Yang...you are my person. I miss you and am so happy for you all at the same time that I never know what to say...I hope to be in Bozeman soon. Don't forget about me <3
I hope you all are having a great week. I am going to spend the next probably 40 minutes trying to figure out how to add some sort of photo to the end of this, I don't want to totally bore you.
